1989-2002 Camaro & Firebird VATS Bypass Kit
This kit includes everything needed to bypass the Key part of the VATS system:
- VATS Bypass PCB
- Solder
- Heat Shrink
- Complete Instruction
The VATS system: The GM VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft System) system uses a resistor (black resistor pellet) in the metal part of the ignition key. The VATS decoder send a 'key OK' signal to the PCM/ECM when the proper key is detected. Without this signal, the fuel injectors will shut down within the first 3 seconds.
The VATS problem: The VATS system can become problematic as it ages. Increase wear, higher resistance from dust and corrosion can cause ignition Key reading that prevent the vehicle from running.
The easy Solution: An easy solution is to bypass the ignition Key part of the VATS system.
A proper fitting ignition Key will still be needed to start the vehicle. But the problematic resistor detection circuit will be bypassed with this kit.
