- Solder (1 tube)
- Heat shrink (assorted sizes)
- Wire ties (pack)
- Complete printed instructions
Most common VATS bypass vehicles (1986–2002)
These models are the most frequently serviced with VATS bypass modules. Verify your year/model in the full fitment list before purchase.

Vehicles most frequently needing bypass due to broken key‑reader wires in the column:
- Camaro / Firebird (F‑body)
- Corvette (C4 & C5)
- Cadillac DeVille / Eldorado / Seville (1990s models)
- Impala SS / Caprice 9C1
- Buick Roadmaster
Key specs & notes:
- 15 selectable resistor/key values via dip switches
- Bypasses the VATS chipped‑key detection only; a properly cut mechanical key is still required to turn the ignition
- Basic wiring and soldering required; kit includes solder and heat shrink
- Not a replacement for immobilizer systems that use separate transponder modules beyond GM VATS
- Before you buy: Verify your vehicle uses the GM VATS system (black pellet/resistor key) and confirm your year/model is listed above
Installation notes: This kit requires basic wiring and soldering skills. Follow the included instructions exactly. Two safe setup workflows are provided:
- If you can measure your key’s resistor value: Use the included switch‑setting chart to set the dip switches to the matching value before installation.
- If you cannot measure the key value: Install the module and test each dip‑switch setting in sequence. When testing dip‑switch settings, allow the VATS delay (about 3–4 minutes) between attempts as the vehicle’s system resets; this prevents repeated lockouts and preserves the vehicle’s VATS behavior during setup.
Limitations: Does not alter or reprogram PCM/ECM; intended to bypass the VATS key detection circuit only. If your vehicle uses a different anti‑theft system (such as a transponder key system), this kit may not apply.

Worked perfectly
I am quite happy with the module kit. It allowed me to bypass the key and now my TA starts every time. Installation took about 45 minutes.
